Coffee route and jaji town
Ideal to learn about some of the historical sites, industries and culture of the region, while you travel the Andean countryside and observe a wide variety of vegetation, dry forests, tropical forest, high dry climate landscapes, cloud forests and more.
We leave at 8am in the Jají direction, passing the 2 stunning waterfalls: The Gonzalez and Skip Jají, respectively. Then we come to Jaji, a small Andean town, which has made a very important contribution in terms of its agricultural products and crafts. There, we have the opportunity to visit the church, the Plaza Bolivar Jají, and we can explore the small cobbled streets. Leaving Jají, the guide will take you to San Juan de Lagunillas and Lagunillas respectively, the latter home to the famous Laguna de Urao.
After lunch we will visit the Hacienda Victoria (a coffee museum) located in Santa Cruz de Mora, where an explanation regarding the process of collecting and processing coffee up until it reaches your cup will be given. There is also a shop of local products where you can buy and share real Venezuelan coffee at home. Historically, this estate was very important because Venezuela paid its external debt in the government of Juan Vicente Gómez thanks to this coffee production. Later, en route to Mérida, we will visit an old sugar cane mill. This represents another key industry in Merida, where you will see the transformation of the Sugar Cane.
